Error bars are a graphical representation of the variability of data and are used on graphs to indicate the error, or uncertainty in a reported measurement. Currently, Vitara charts supports error bars in the following charts.
In vitara charts to set error bars we need three metrics. One is the base metric for which we set the error bars. The other two metrics are ‘error-Low Value’ and ‘error-high value’.
Lets consider an example to display open value and closing value of the Amazon.com, Inc. stock price for the month of Nov 2019. On the close value metric i want to display the day high value and low value as error bars. Attributes and Metrics used in the example are:
Metrics: 1.Open ($), 2.Close ($), 3.Day High ($), 4.Day Low ($).
Apply vitara bar/column/line chart to a dossier/document. In this demonstration I used vitara column chart. Initially i added Open ($), and Close ($) metrics to the vitara column chart.
On the bars of Close ($) metric i want to show the error bars. Add the metrics Day High ($) and Day Low ($) in to the Tooltip dropzone. The metric Day Low ($) should be set as the low value for the error bars and the metric Day High ($) should be set as the high value for the error bars.
Hover the cursor on the vitara chart to display Edit button. Click on the Edit button to open properties window. In the properties window open the Series menu.
Basically the Series menu will be used to configure the series properties. This means, for a given metric the chart type used to draw the series, series color and axis for this series - primary/secondary.
In the Series menu edit the series properties for the metric for which you want to set the error bars. In the current example click on Edit for the metric Close ($).
In the series properties there is a check box Show Error Bars. Click on this check box to enable Error Bars in the chart.
When we enable Error Bars, series properties menu will show the drop down list boxes to set low and high values for error bars. Expand the drop down list and select the metrics which you want to set as low and high values. Then select the color for error bars. At last click on the Apply button.
Below is the screenshot of Vitara colum chart showing error bars on the metric Close ($).
For the same example, below is the screenshot of the vitara line chart showing error bars.
